Unlocking Narcissism

All of the whacky behaviors you’re being afflicted with have names. They are recognizable to those who have the vocabulary. They are white noise to those who do not.

Walk into your sitting room. Describe it to me?

There are cushions, couches, pictures, handles, shelves, trinkets etc.

Can you imagine trying to describe the room without knowing the names of these things? As you describe, I may not be able to identify that you are talking about a beanbag rather than a cushion. If you had to stop to describe each individual item in the room it would be difficult. Difficult because you don’t know what they are, what their purpose is, and what their names are. There would be quite a lot of explaining to be done.

Now describe the internal workings of your computer to me?

You might mention RAM, ROM, CPU, GPU, BIOS etc. but what do these things really mean? They are terms you are vaguely familiar with but if you were to describe them in detail you might struggle a little, right? Narcissism is comprised of many different components, some have vaguely familiar names and others have names that may be new to you, either way, if you aren’t intimately familiar with these components you will likely have difficulty describing them.

That’s why it’s confusing.

I didn’t have the language to identify the components. They happened and inflicted serious injury on me as they passed. They passed like a blur. I was unable to see the things that were happening because they were unknown to me. I was blind to them. I basically didn’t know what I was looking at. Being able to label them is the key to understanding it and explaining it.
