Wrapping gifts

Emma’s Birthday and Christmas!

Susan has been known to buy Emma nice clothes and shoes. She does try for maybe one hour in the lead up. Credit where it’s due. However, she generally has no idea on any given year what Emma is actually into ( #lack-of-empathy ) .

She does not wrap gifts. She has never participated in the preparation of Birthday and Christmas in any meaningful way ( #lack-of-empathy #entitlement ) . Let’s break it down:

• Thoughtful gifts => Nope ( #lack-of-empathy ) .
• Clothes and shoe gifts => Yep (this is good).
• Misaligned or unsuitable gifts => When they’re not clothes or shoes ( #lack-of-empathy ) .
• Wrapping gifts => Never ( #lack-of-empathy ) .
• Balloons => Nope ( #lack-of-empathy ) .
• Candles => Nope ( #lack-of-empathy ) .
• Banners and bunting => Nope ( #lack-of-empathy ) .
• Criticism over the effort I put into it => Yes ( #devaluation #vitriol ) .
• Jealousy of the effort I put into it => Yes ( #narcissistic-injury ) .
• Birthdays and Christmas are laced with sulking, aggravation, dissatisfaction and hostility => Always ( #passive-aggressive #belligerent ) .
• Elaborate cake suitable for adults with huge fanfare, announcements, social media pics, praise and thanks required => Oh yes ( #supply #grandiosity ) .

She’ll tell me of course that she has wrapped gifts ( #gaslighting #history-revision ) . It almost happened one year but she got fed up after a few minutes, gave out to me and disappeared off ( #narcissistic-rage #discard ) .
