The internet

This is going way back to not long after we moved into our house.

I wanted internet. I needed internet.
I wasn’t working from home at the time but it would have been nice to have access to the internet for you know, things like, music, T.V. and of course my hobby, blogging about computer code and such stuff.

Nope, not a hope. I had to beg her to allow me to get it ( #control #manipulation ) . And of course I had to promise to pay for it myself ( #control #entitlement ) .

We got it in.

Needless to say, she wasn’t happy with where the Wi-FI box (router) was. She wasn’t happy with the quality of the install, the socket and whatnot ( #control #devaluation ) . This at the time was soul destroying but I was naive, I didn’t know it as a manipulation, a control, a power play.

To make matters worse. “The internet” would have to be turned off when we weren’t using it ( #control ) . I kid you not. She used to ask me constantly “would you mind turning off the internet if you’re not using it” ( #manipulation #control ) . I did ( #fawn-response ) .

Years later, she is resigned to the idea that it can be left on continually. I’m so privileged.
