Basketball coaching

Emma was young at the time. The U8 basketball team was the entry level team and therefore, just like every year, they were looking for coaches because last years U8 coaches had moved up to U10 etc.

Susan was asked if she would like to help out. She did one training session. I remember our daughter being really happy about that. I remember being really skeptical and rightly so. In no time at all, Susan had a falling out with a chairperson or some such when it transpired that to do the coaching seventy bucks had to be paid for the privilege of doing a couple of requisite training courses ( #entitlement #argumentative ) . She then had a falling out with another parent/coach over her lack of commitment one way or the other ( #argumentative #belligerent ) .

The basis for the falling out was over why “she” had to pay for the course. Fair point, no doubt about it but there’s no special treatment here and an inflated sense of entitlement only serves to clash with the reality of the situation ( #entitlement #grandiosity ) .

Two upset basketball people, an upset daughter and a coaching deficit (still weeks into the season) left in the wake of this particular incident ( #trouble-maker ) .
